WALGREENS / VITAMIN ANGELS

REAL GENEROSITY TOWARD THE FUTURE LIES IN GIVING ALL TO THE PRESENT —ALBERT CAMUS

Despite best efforts, most governmental health services are not able meet the needs of their citizens. Vitamin Angels works with local non-profit organizations that provide health and nutrition services to underserved women and children. With corporate partnerships, and by working closely with and complementary to, local infrastructure and community organizations, Vitamin Angels travels to these communities with a four prong approach to educate and dispense: nutritional counseling, prentals, vitamins, and malnutrition. In the spring of 2018 Walgreens, Vitamin Angels, Mayan Families and director Ewan McNicol, of Anna & Ewan, set out to tell this story through a documentary and stills campaign. Over a three-day period, we ventured out of the main city of Sololá to small, agricultural Mayan villages in the Guatemalan Highlands area around Lake Atitlán. Traveling via dirt roads and walking paths, we accompanied two families visiting community schools acting as vitamin distribution and prenatal care centers. —Melissa Roldan
